What sells a home? Price and Exposure. The biggest obstacle that private sellers come up against is exposure. Putting a ‘For Sale’ sign on your lawn really doesn’t promote your home properly. How does a potential buyer living 10 kilometres away find your home? He doesn’t.

People looking for a home search on the MLS, in newspapers, in magazines etc. and then when they find something of interest, they contact an agent for more information. Buyers never pay for the services of a Realtor so it's makes sense that a buyer would use the knowledge and expertise of a Realtor when making one of the biggest purchases of their lifetime. After all, it doesn't cost them anything.
